With a number of longterm members leaving the organisation this year Singleton High School's (SHS) P&C is hoping to attract some new members.
And according to those longtime members the P&C is a wonderful organisation that holds a mere 10 meetings a year and does not actually undertake any fundraisers.
"Anyone who has worked on primary school P&Cs sometimes gets over all the demands from fundraising," said Cynthia Mulholland who has spent 19 years as a member of primary and secondary school P&Cs including 10 years as the secretary of the SHS P&C.
But she no longer has any school aged children and has decided to retire from SHS P &C.
She wants to encourage others to replace her saying she loved her time working for the P&C movement attending regional and state meetings.
"You are very much part of the school community assisting with strategic planning and advocacy - talking to politicians and others on behalf of your P&C," she said.
"We were a small but mighty team."
Cheryl Holz has held the role of President of the SHS P&C for some time but as her youngest child is in his last year of high school has stepped down from the role into a more supportive role of Assistant Treasurer.
Our funding comes from the school's canteen that employs three staff and last year that facility raised $100,000 for the school, she said.
"This money is invested in our student's education along with grants that the P & C apply for and last year we received $100,000 in additional grants funding," she said. "We were able to use that money on STEM subject requirements, an outdoor gym and beautification of the school." Mrs Holz said being a member of the P & C meant your build a great rapport with the staff at the school and gained a far greater understanding of how the school operates.
