To publish a book is an achievement on its own, but to publish a book at the age of sixteen is a huge accomplishment.
Budding author Evedyn Byrne has composed, published and released her very first fantasy fiction novel titled Starborn; The Rorrim Quartet Begins, after the vision for the coming of age story sparked in her mind nearly three years ago.
Miss Byrne considers herself a dedicated bookworm and has indulged in reading since she learnt how to read around the age of eleven after having to navigate through some road bumps in the process.
"I struggled to read growing up but my mother didn't let that stump me," said Miss Byrne.
"Mum would often write her own short stories and read them to both my sister and I which I found very inspiring."
Miss Byrne admits that a lot of her creativity and inspiration comes from fantasy and sci-fi based online blogs and short story forums as well as worldwide sagas such as the Harry Potter and Twilight series.
"I love sci-fi and fantasy stories, I was lucky enough over the weekend to attend a book exchange and pick up a duffle bag full of books to delve into," she said. Her 200-page novel focuses on sixteen year old Issabell Helmer who is transferred to a boarding school only to find herself in an unexpected situation when she discovers a multiverse.
"Isabell struggles to adapt to her new life on this mysterious planet, while also finding out what her true past and future hold," Miss Byrne explained.
"Attending the boarding school on this planet, Izzy meets new friends, animals, and creatures of all kinds. "Learning about the history of this world and how she is somehow involved in the disappearance of the immortal princess, who lived a millennia ago."
This fifteen chapter read is the first of a four-piece original saga. The author herself also committed to designing the cover art, a compilation of relative images that encapsulate the significance of Izzy.
Miss Byrne's mother Elizabeth Heller said her family is extremely proud of the budding author.
"Evedyn is incredibly determined and focused, if she has an idea for something, she will make it happen," said Ms Heller.
"Her flexibility shows in the way she gets things done, and we are all so proud of this achievement and very excited for the rest of the series."
Whilst in the midst of writing the next piece, Miss Byrne will also focus on pursuing qualifications to eventually land herself a career in publishing.
"I am planning on enrolling in TAFE to gain some communications and writing qualifications to get me kick started on my writing and publishing journey," she said.
Starborn; The Rorrim Quartet Begins can be purchased as a hard copy or eBook on Booktopia and iBooks.
