Scroll down for some information on the teams and which ones you should be looking out for this year.

Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs will be forces to reckon with once again

At this stage, it would be very unwise to underestimate the 2021 Grand Finalists, the Western Bulldogs and discount them from the 2022 premiership - the same goes for Melbourne Football Club.

The Bulldogs are definitely in a position to not only challenge this year but future seasons too, with Melbourne looking to be hot on their heels.

David King, the dual premiership Kangaroo said that if you consider how the Dogs have drafted in the past, "there is a dynasty available" for the team. Don't forget, they were up by 19 points during the third quarter of the Grand Final.

Don't write off Sydney

Then we've got Sydney - and it's important not to write these guys off. Considering where they were standing in 2020, they've made an awesome comeback so far in 2021.

Looking at the list of players, there's a decent line-up, with many of them aged 26 and 27 - heavily considered the "prime" time of an AFL player's career.

Even better, there's a host of veteran star players who are still in great form - as well as some young guns who have impressed the football world recently! Sydney are definitely one to watch for the 2022 season.

Brisbane could be in trouble

The team most likely to burst into the Grand Final next year is the Brisbane Lions, despite exiting two straight-set finals in 3 years. However, they may be in a spot of trouble as a result of their high injury levels in 2021, not to mention they haven't replaced Birch - their best player.

That said, they've built up an excellent list that puts them in an ideal position to compete for the flag this year.

Expect the Giants' young team to come into its own

Despite having a percentage of under 100 in last year's home and away season, the Giants still managed to reach the semi-final with half of their team made up of players aged under 25.

Lots of these youngsters were in the backline and played way beyond their years, standing up to some of the most experienced forward lines in the whole competition.

Gold Coast could have some aces up their sleeve

Gold Coast is tipped to be the draft kingmaker next year due to their impressive 8 picks following a hectic trade period.

With this high level of picks, The Gold Coast Suns are very likely to acquire some young talent.
