The Rodeo Round Up will see two full days of action including feature night performances at the Australian Equine and Livestock Event Centre (AELEC) on 21st and 22nd of January, 2022.
ABCRA Executive Officer, Craig Young, says the Association is excited to welcome competitors back to the AELEC arena.
"It's been a tough 18-months for competitors across the country," he said.
"Rodeos have been cancelled because of COVID-19 and border closures have prevented many from travelling, so we are really looking forward to some action-packed competition here in Tamworth."
More than $140,000 in prizemoney will be up for grabs across the two nights, with the Open Bull Ride and Open Saddle Bronc leading a full program of events.
"The Bull Ride and Saddle Bronc, along with the Ladies Barrel Race and Open Steer Wrestling will be major drawcards for athletes, with $5000 up for grabs each night for each event," said Mr Young.
"We'll also have considerably prizemoney in the Open Bareback, Team Roping, and Rope and Tie, plus a full card of junior and novice events."
The event will also have a charitable side, with Friday's rodeo set to celebrate the ABCRA's 10-year partnership with the NSW Cancer Council through its 'Tough Enough to Wear Pink' fundraiser.
More than $75,000 has been raised for the NSW Cancer Council since 2011.
"The ABCRA supports a number of charities every year across its 212 affiliated committees," said Mr Young.
"The Rodeo Round Up will also be supporting the Where There's A Will Foundation and Care Flight on Saturday, with the 'Good Enough to Wear Green' rodeo in memory of ABCRA member Bruce Green."
The 2022 Rodeo Round Up will run in place of the traditional National Finals, which have been moved to later in 2022, after the annual point score was extended due to COVID-19 impacts.
Entries for the event will open on December, 28, 2021 via iCOMPETE and a full program of events can be found on the ABCRA website.
Tickets will go on sale in the coming weeks.
