Santa has his list, has checked it twice and is heading to Christmas on John Street this Friday, December 10

Bringing a little extra festive magic to this year's event, Singleton Council is teaming up with Singleton Rotary Club and Clear Light Photography to capture the spirit of the season - literally - with a free Santa photo for our youngest residents right through to the young at heart.

Jason Linnane, Council's General Manager said after a year that has brought plenty of challenges, there was no better occasion for the entire community to celebrate the simple joy of being together - and what better way to remember it than with a free photo with the jolly man himself?

"The Rotary Club of Singleton has been bringing joy to our community at Christmas time for over 70 years and we are very proud to once again be partnering with them to bring Santa's Grotto to life," he said.

"Still with the magic you know and love, the Santa experience this year will reflect requirements with physical distancing in place, hand sanitiser available, and Rotary's elves on standby to support with cleaning."

In keeping with tradition, Singleton firefighters will chauffer Santa to the event in their 1960s Bedford vintage truck, supported by a string of police on horseback. There'll also be entertainment by Singleton Town Band and local dance groups as well as food trucks, wine and beer stalls from Broke Fordwich and Around Hermitage Pokolbin, late night shopping and more than 60 market stalls alongside Maker's Alley with kids' activities including jumping castles, balloon twisting, face painting, and a petting zoo.

And to cap off festivities, an epic fireworks display - supported by Yancoal - will go off with a bang at 9pm.

"Christmas on John Street goes to the heart of community with people coming together to enjoy entertainment for all ages, delicious food and beverages from local vendors as well as offerings on John Street, and of course Santa Claus and fireworks," Mr Linnane said.

"But best of all is the sense of the spirit of the season, especially after another tough year. The event gets bigger and better every year and after a two-year hiatus due to bushfires then COVID, I can't wait to see as many people as possible on John Street from 6pm on Friday evening."

Christmas on John Street is a COVID-safe event. As per NSW Government guidelines, people must be double vaccinated to attend and double vaccination status must be shown to event officials prior to entry.
