Branxton men's foursomes championships

Updated December 8 2021 - 2:12pm, first published December 7 2021 - 10:43am

The 2021 Foursomes Championships were held on Saturday with 50 "brave souls" competing in this tough event where teams of two play alternate shots-it is often noted that team mates apologise on the first tee to save the many apologies throughout the round. The winners, Peter Wilton and Mark Moylan didn't need to say sorry too many times as they won the event with an impressive 74 off the stick. They only won on a countback from Rod Wilton and Victor Matt who had the same score, so they can feel a little aggrieved as their score is usually good enough to win-well played both teams. The nett winners were Graham Bull and Brandan Connor with 63.5, just ahead of Chris and Ted Zawirski on 65. Greg Tearle and Charles Jubb's 66.5 score was good enough for third with Mick Carling teaming up with Club President, Richard Crooks to finish 4th with their 69 nett score. Club Captain, Steve Ross and playing partner Richard Turnbull were 5th on the same score. 78.5 was needed to win a ball. The shot of the day belonged to Greg Tearle on the difficult 13th, finishing less than 2 metres from the hole. Next week's event is the Monthly Medal where every stroke counts.
