The Bowral Show is back for 2023 for two days of pavilion exhibitions, pet shows, dog high jump, hobby horse races, show jumping and more. Read also: Council thanks residents for festival of Lights support After three years of COVID and rain, show secretary Edwina Grant said this year would be the first full show since 2019. "We're excited because the forecast for the weather is good," she said. "I'm expecting big numbers. It will be great to get back into it and be busy. "It will be a shock to the system. It's a small volunteer committee, and everyone puts a lot of work into getting it up and running." Read also: Berrima's famous shop on the corner celebrates milestone Edwina said the last full show was in 2019. "We couldn't have a show in 2020 and 2021," she said. "The Bowral Show went ahead in 2022, but rain cancelled several events. "We had to cancel the show jumping which is a big part of our show, and we didn't have any pet shows or dog jumps. "We just had a straight horse show." Read also: Guitar virtuoso Jeff Beck dies at 78 This year the Pavilion entries will be taken on Thursday, January 12 between 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Entrants are encouraged to pop in throughout the day, with judging to take place on Friday. The pavilion will be open on Saturday and Sunday for visitors. This year will also be the first year for the hobby horse race. "We're going to do a hobby horse race," Edwina said. "Just a fun sort of thing for the kids. The Bowral Show will be held at the Bong Bong Racecourse on Saturday, January 14 and Sunday 15. The show commences at 8:30 am. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for pensioners and children under 14 and $20 for families. Members must show badges or pay the admission charge.
