By 10am it was. His team became the Hunter Junior Rugby Union U11 Premiers and he was a Premiership winning coach.
Warm conditions and a big crowd turned up to Grand Final day and the U11 team went in as favourites against Maitland Blacks.
The young Bulls came out and controlled the early stage. Business as usual. Sharp work and sustained field domination saw Mitchell Cox score a clever try with a Tom Stacy conversion for 7-0 lead.
This was extended by a try to Mr perpetual motion, Mick Taylor, after good lead up and sustained pressure from forwards Timmy Ryan, Ben Couling and Ben Bannister.
Maitland struck back for a 12-7 half time score. The boys came out to the second half ready to put the game out of reach of Maitland and it was captain Jeremy Dunn who cleared out for a 75 metre effort converted by Tom Stacy.
Quick hands by Lachlan Caslick at scrumhalf provided good momentum for the backs Riley Woods, Nathan Andrews and Jack Ryan.
Will Partidge and Tom Whalan performed to a high standard with ruck work and cleanout and the defensive effort of Tom Cramp and Nathan Andrews saw possession remain with the Bulls for much of the game.
Mick Taylor scored again with conversion by Mitchell Cox for a 26-7 lead.
Maitland scored a late consolation try. It was great to see the return of Sam Harrison for this game as he has battled injury during the later part of the season. The siren went, 26-14, a famous victory.
A deserved achievement to a lovely bunch of young men.
The victory song ran out Singleton Bulls Love Their Rugby. Congratulations to all concerned.
