Steve Moore was the winner of the Mug. What a great result after biting the bullet and committing to a series of lessons with Club Pro Les Bennett. This was easily Steve’s best round.
A stunning front nine of 42 even shocked Steve! Steve’s handicap now heads southwards and B grade beckons.
The A grade winner was Mark Newman who seems to successfully recovered from a horror month on the course. Mark’s score was 70.
Fergus Hay’s nett 71 came in a close second while Ben Stokes’ scratch of 75 was a great training run for the Championships and won the A grade scratch prize.
Jade Lees from Muswellbrook produced the lowest scratch score of the day despite being in B grade. His scratch of 74 returned a nett of 63 to win both the scratch and nett in that grade.
Dean Ingold was runner up with a fine 64.
The C grade winner was Maitland visitor Damien Spiteri with a handsome nett score of 63.
Terry Thompson’s 64 was the unlucky runner up while Matt Richardson won the scratch with 89.
The best putters on the day were awarded prizes from the secret 9 pool. Michael Daley scorched the greens with 25 putts to win the majority of the purse. Ben Stokes and Fergus Hay followed on 26 with Jade Lees next on 27.
A Stableford round is scheduled this Saturday and should provide some relief to golfers before the arduous test of the Club Championships.
The Club Championship timesheet is filling up nicely and should prove to be equally as successful as the previous year’s. All entrants should have their entry fees paid by tomorrow. This year’s entry fee is $95.
The junior clinics held throughout the recent school holidays proved to be very popular. Over 60 children attended the clinics despite the hot and windy conditions. Any kids wishing to go further with their golf should contact Les at the Pro Shop for more information.
