Mitchell was successful in two open trials and was selected in the 25 player squad and hopes to play in his preferred positions of either winger or fullback.
He brings a lot of pace to any team and is an accurate goal kicker, a role he is happy to do for the Hunter team.
This is the first time that he has been selected in the team and he hopes he can go even further and make the New South Wales team. The year 6 student plays his rugby locally with the Singleton Bulls.
Mitchell is still getting use to the setup and structure of the team after having only their first training session two weeks ago.
“We just had a basic training session but the coach is promising more work in the lead up to the competition,” Mitchell said.
