ELEVEN students from Singleton High School competed at the New South Wales Combined High Schools Sports Association Athletics Championships in Homebush recently.

The pupils headed to the Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre on September 4 to run, jump, hurdle and throw during the three-day competition.
Runner James Bradley performed well, recording two personal best times.
“I came second in the under-15 800m in 2.06 and fourth in the 1500m in 4.22,” he said.
Year seven students Krystal Sloan, Chantelle Smuts, Deanna Mayled and Georgina Hughes competed in the 4 x 100m relay and just missed out on place in the final.
Smuts also took part in hurdles and Mayled the shot put.
Year 8 student Nick Watson lined up for the 100m hurdles and Year 11’s Barry competed in the 1500m event.
In the AWD section Year seven student Darcy Gilson came third in the shot put and also competed in the discus and javelin.
Year seven student Sam Odgers participated in the same three events.
While Samantha York and Ella Smith-Ballard tackled shot put, both are also Year seven students.
Teacher Liam McKechnie said it was a huge
achievement for all the youngsters to reach this representative level.
