While other organisations are finding new ideas hard to come by, especially with the current downturn in the mining industry, the chamber is thinking outside the square.
Not only is it setting up an office space in town, to give it a physical presence, the group should employ a new business development officer (BDO) by the end of the year.
This comes on top of instigating the inaugural Hunter Coal Festival in 2015.
The BDO’s role is simple: he or she will be tasked with growing the chamber’s profile locally; and provide increased support to members.
This will allow the organisation to engage with more businesses at a time many might need assistance.
The Singleton Business Chamber, along with Coal & Allied who funded the position, should be applauded for its initiative.
