Work on the multi-million dollar redevelopment finished late last year but Caltex, who now owns the site, was unable to gain final approval to start trading from NSW Roads and Maritime Services (RMS).
Located on the New England Highway just north of town at McDougalls Hill, Caltex confirmed the delays were due to the process involved in gaining RMS approvals and then undertaking the necessary roadworks.
A spokesman for Caltex said interim road works have now been completed.
“Caltex received an interim occupation certificate on Tuesday (March 24), enabling the site to trade until such time as additional roadworks around the site can be completed,” he said.
“Caltex is working with RMS to ensure the designs are finalised and approved.
“These additional roadworks will begin as soon as possible after the approvals are received.
“This is a welcome boost to the local economy and good news for those working at the site.”
The company expects additional employment opportunities may present themselves when the restaurant opens.
Caltex is currently in discussions with a potential tenant.
