A total of $26,200 was raised from the one-off charity event, a key fixture of the Hunter Coal Festival.
More than 120 local coal industry leaders and workers participated in the day.
Rix’s Creek Coal Mine manager Luke Murray said the success of the event was beyond everyone’s expectations.
“Raising such a significant amount of money for such a worthy local cause is something every participant should be proud of,” he said.
“What really stood out was the responsiveness and spirit of everyone who participated.
“The participants wasted no time signing up to be involved and digging deep to deliver such significant charity dollars.”
Many significant individual donations were made, in addition to the cost of playing on the day.
Singleton Cancer Council NSW community relations coordinator Glen Parsons said the money raised was invaluable.
“We’re now in an even stronger position to spread the word about cancer prevention, pursue research initiatives and provide supportive care options,” he said.
“This money will go a long way to making a big difference when it comes to preventing cancer and helping those who suffer from cancer.”
Rix’s Creek is already a major supporter of local Cancer Council NSW operations.
The one-off Hunter Coal Festival golf day complements the Rix’s Creek Annual Golf Day and the Maitland Relay for Life event.
Over the past eight years the Bloomfield Group, which owns Rix’s Creek Coal Mine, has raised more than $500,000 for cancer causes
