A nine-year-old boy was killed and several others injured when a prime mover and a bus collided about 3:52pm yesterday near the corner of Kelso and Church streets.

Two children - one the brother of the nine-year-old - suffered critical injuries and were airlifted to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital.
A further five children were transported to Singleton Hospital with minor injuries including back and neck pain.
A 50-year-old male bus driver was treated for cuts to his head by paramedics and transported to Singleton Hospital in a stable condition.
A 27-year-old male truck driver with cuts to his face, was also transported to Singleton Hosptial in a stable condition.
The mother of one of the children was treated for shock and taken to Singleton Hospital.
Neighbours came running to the crash sceneto assist the injured after hearing a loud bang and the screaming of children.
They came with blankets and were visibily upset comforting one another at the site.
The children were travelling home from school on a Hunter Valley school bus.
Twelve ambulances plus State Emergency Service volunteers, fire crews and numerous police attended.
The area was quickly cordonned off as parents came rushing to locate their children.
Police investigations are continuing and a report is being prepared for a coronial inquest as neighbours continue to question the safety of intersection.
