The Singleton golf course was playing very nicely, however a smaller contingent of players than usual took to the links.
This was due to 24 members making their annual pilgrimage to the Gloucester Open.
The A grade players produced some very subdued scoring.
The winners returned scores usually good enough to only win a golf ball in the ball rundown.
Paul Flanagan’s 35 points was his grade’s best on the day and I guess he could be called the accidental winner.
Wayne Orr’s 35 points had him falling into the runners up spot.
B grade was a much different story. George Makras shot the best score over the field.
His winning total of 41 points was testament to his improved swing mechanics.
Rick Madden was another B grader to return a fine score. His 40 points took out second place.
C grade’s Dean Thomson produced the biggest winning margin on the day.
A high score of 40 had him five points clear of runner-up Robert Downes.
With only two ladies playing on the day, they were competing against the men.
Hats off to Debbie Cooper for winning a ball and three nearest the pin prizes.
This gal obviously takes dead aim.
This Saturday’s tournament is an individual stableford and will no doubt see a great roll up.
The annual Holden Scramble is being played on Sunday week, August 23, with entries being made for the morning or afternoon hit offs through the touch screen in the clubhouse.
