At the opening of the new look John Street on Wednesday, Council's general manager, Lindy Hyam pointed out the biggest project they have undertaken to date was completed early, and came in under budget.

These are two concepts not usually associated with such a major construction project and means there is now a possibility Council will be able to extend the works further.
Mrs Hyam has confirmed discussions are to be held with Resources to Regions in regard to revamping the area known as little John Street, or the Railway/Station Precinct.
This should come as welcome news to retailers in this area who expressed their discontent with being left off the town centre directional maps back in August.
“Discussions are to be held with Resources to Regions to extend the John Street works as far as possible up to the Station Precinct around Pritchard Park, as included in our Master Plan,” she says.
