From Goorangoola and Mount Olive to Middle Falbrook and Glennies Creek, multiple houses were damaged, trees came down blocking roads and some minor flooding occurred.
There was no hail in town but a thunderstorm dumped an estimated 16.6mm on Friday night and the bad weather continued on Saturday with a total of 28.8mm of rain recorded.
Heavy rain also fell in wine country over the weekend with significant downpours in Broke, Mildbrodale and Pokolbin.
On Saturday, 42 millimetres of rain fell on the Pokolbin area which meant the most popular accessory for concert goers at Hope Estate was a poncho.
Thousands had gathered at the winery to watch the legendary British-American band Fleetwood Mac.
SES controller Simon Merrick says he had teams in the field from about 7pm on Friday until 8pm on Saturday.
“There was a wild storm that hung around for a couple of hours on Friday night but it was the small intense period at the beginning, which saw the hail damage through the Mount Olive, Goorangoola and Middle Falbrook area,” he explains.
“We were called to Camberwell where a tree was across the highway.
“But, by the time we got there, members of the public had cleared it.”
However, there were cars stalled in water there and NSW Fire & Rescue also attended.
Mr Merrick says they were also called to a number of homes with damaged rooves, and smashed skylights and windows.
“We had a lot of big jobs that required three to four people to attend,” he says.
“A large tree blocked the road near the intersection of Middle Falbrook and Stoney Creek Roads which took a while to move and held up traffic.”
He says he had about 17 to 18 people out at any one time.
