Well done Singleton.
The inaugural Lake St Clair Charity Bike Ride, organised by Singleton Rotary, Soft Cogs and Mt Owen Glencore, was hailed an outstanding success with 150 riders taking part in the event.
The ride around the lake was spectacular and according to some of the participants a very enjoyable challenge thanks to number of hills.
Its is hoped the event will grow and become more popular with the bike riding enthusiasts. Visitors may spread the work about the beautiful Lake St Clair and all it has to offer.
And the other good news is the fact the money raised at the event will go to support the much needed work carried out by the Singleton Neighbourhood Centre.
Singleton Army Base hosted the judging of the annual Hunter Valley Wine Show – one of the oldest regional wine shows in Australia.
In total 59 gold, 108 silver and 208 bronze medals were awarded as well as 24 trophies.
Chairman of Hunter Valley Wine and Tourism Association (HVWTA)George Souris said the outstanding results of the show is a great opportunity for the region to showcase itself as a premier wine producing area and promote the Hunter Valley as a dynamic tourism destination.
Among the winners at the show were wines produced in the Singleton LGA.
And completing our weekend of diversity was the staging of the annual parade of stallions.
This event is unique to Australia and because the Hunter is home to two of the worlds largest thoroughbred studs its quite an event.
Coolmore at Jerrys Plains hosted a morning and afternoon parade and the stallions as usual are the stars. They really know how to strut their stuff.
Once again this event brought many visitors to our district providing a boost to the local economy and showcasing our diversity and beauty.
A quick drive along Hermitage Road will show anyone that this is the new boom area for Pokolbin thanks to the Hunter Expressway delivering visitors directly to that road.
Good signs for our future.
