And, this weekend, the popular bazaar will commemorative another milestone.
“It’s time to celebrate,” market manager Tracy Ward said.
“The Denman Farmer’s Market is turning seven.
“It’s been held on the first Saturday of the month since October 2009 – and has become a valuable part of the community.”
Mrs Ward said much had changed from its humble beginnings.
“When the market first started, it was strictly farmers and producers only and featured 16 stalls,” she told the Chronicle.
“But, due to community demand, it has been expanded to include all sorts of wonderful quality goods.
“The market now averages 30 stalls a month with something for everyone.
“From beef, pork, eggs, fruit and veggies to cupcakes, macarons, clothing and shoes, shoppers find more than just what they were looking for.”
Mrs Ward said it wasn’t just about the shopping either.
“From the very start, the Denman Farmer’s Market Association embraced community groups, big and small, and welcomed them all to be community beneficiaries,” she explained.
“Over the years, the recipients have included the hospital, Merton Court Aged Care, Scouts, the Denman Children’s Centre, local schools, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, Relay for Life, Hunter Animal Rescue and many different sporting organisations.
“Community beneficiaries get a free stall - they can use that stall to promote their organisation or to do fundraising.
“They also receive all the takings from the wishing well.
“The Denman Farmer’s Market began small; and kept growing.
“It is now known as a great way to spend the morning of the first Saturday of the month.”
