A DEPLETED Singleton representative cricket team travelled to Branxton on Sunday to meet a full-strength Cessnock in the McDonald’s Country Plate – and came home empty-handed.

Cessnock won the toss and opted to bat first.
They kept the runs rolling and went on to make 276 from their 50 overs.
Clinton Harmon (4-30) and Sam Barry (3-69) recorded the best bowling figures for Singleton.
Greg Andrews was Cessnock’s leading batsman when he finished on 96 not out.
Nathan Levy top scored for Singleton with 28 and Daniel Galvin made 18, and also took four catches as wicket keeper.
Matt Tomlinson snared 6-29 from his 10 overs.
Cessnock will now progress next weekend to play the winner of Upper Hunter and Tamworth Blue.
October 30 is the date set down for the first matches in the Hunter Valley Cricket Council Competition.
Singleton faces Newcastle C&S at Newcastle in the John Bull Shield and the second division team is drawn to travel to Maitland.
In the Singleton District Cricket Association, a hat-trick to Brendan Nichols enabled Valley to beat PCH by seven wickets at Cook Park 3.
The first-change bowler claimed 5-17 as PCH was routed for 90.
Nichols removed Dan Thorn (4), Jay Langford (0) and Luke Knight (0) in consecutive deliveries.
Only Hugh Smith (35), Jake Mackaway (18) and Dan Oldknow (16) provided any resistance.
Luke Nichols also picked up 3-27.
In reply, Valley began slowly, slipping to 3-33, before Jacob Carey (29 not out) and Troy Barnett (27 not out) guided them to victory in the 25th over.
Barton Jones claimed 2-43.
Muswellbrook RSL came thudding back to earth, following a six-wicket loss to JPC at Victoria Park.
Just one week after upsetting Glendon in its first grade debut, the side struggled to amass 148.
The hosts slumped to 6-49, despite Alan Baker’s 23, before Daniel Galvin (54), Josh Cooper (38) and Luke Cameron (11 not out) added some respectability to the total.
Brad Driscoll and Josh Rinkin were the pick of the bowlers, taking 4-23 and 4-45 respectively.
JPC started strongly, with openers Ash Borg (38) and Andrew Hunter (21) getting among the runs.
That effort was backed up by Jack Turner (58 not out) and Josh Harvey (26).
Jayden Galvin returned 2-30.
Defending premiers Creeks received a forfeit from Souths.
In second grade, JPC (5-84) upstaged RSL (80), Creeks (172) trounced Denman (142) and Valley (7-133) hung on to beat PCH (9-127).
In “thirds”, Valley (9-212) thumped PCH (86), JPC (3-52) overpowered RSL (49) and Creeks (4-141) defeated Denman (137).
