La La Loopsy will be well fancied in Sunday’s $150,000 Western Districts Country Championship Qualifier at Dubbo Turf Club on the back of what trainer Peter Nestor has called an “ideal preparation”.
The lightly-raced five-year-old mare has won four of her six starts and her last three on the bounce, with two of those coming this campaign.
“She has had the right prep and has gone the right way. I think the mare is still improving too so with all that you’d think she’s got to be very, very hard to beat,” said Nestor.
“It’s a big drop from 63kg the other day at Bathurst. She drops back to 55.5kg at set weights conditions. It brings her into the race pretty well and she is a big strong mare with it.”
“She’s as good as gold and worked lovely yesterday (Tuesday) morning. Two nice soft trials, two starts and third-up here at home. It’s been an ideal preparation.”
“There is no such thing as a good thing though unless you’ve got Winx or a Black Caviar.”
Leading country hoop Mathew Cahill has steered the daughter of Raheeb to victory on both occasions this campaign and will maintain the ride in the $150,000 feature.
La La Loopsy has drawn barrier 11 but that hasn’t stopped TAB opening up with the five-year-old as a $3 favourite, a price which quickly came in to $2.70.
Cecil Hdgson’s A Magic Zariz drew barrier 13 while Greg Ryan and Coming In Hot will go from barrier four for trainer Justin Stanley.
“It’s a great incentive these meetings. Peter (V’landys) has done a great job with it.”
