Every Wednesday the crew are ready, and willing, to bring a caffeine hit to your door.
Disability support worker, Rebecca Hemmingway says the coffee run gives participants the chance to experience the responsibility of running their own business while developing their social networks and promoting inclusion within the local community.
“The program is a great way for our guys to build their work skills as well as giving them the chance to meet new people and actively contribute back to their local community,” she says.
They currently service a number of businesses in the Hunter Valley Glass complex, and are keen to expand the run.
Participant, Jaimey Lawler, says she enjoys being involved in the coffee run,
“I like doing the coffee run because I get the opportunity to meet new people in the community and learn work skills like customer service and handling money,” she says.
The coffee run is held every Wednesday morning at 9:30am.
Local businesses who would like to place an order can contact Rebecca Hemmingway on 4990 2600.
Happy Grillmores also generously donate a portion of each order back to the service, with participants deciding what to spend their funds on, such as new resources or fun trips away.
