On June 17, Team McInerney will be hosting ‘A Day for Stephen’ in order to raise funds for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
The event will begin at 11.30am and will include a three course lunch at the Singleton Golf Club, costing just $55 per person.
With a range of locally donated prizes to raffle off during the day and set auctions to be hosted by local auctioneer Scott Bailey, the event is hoping to not only raise funding and awareness for the disease, but to honour and celebrate the life of Stephen.
Singleton local, Stephen McInerney was diagnosed with stage 2 brain cancer in July 2010. After five years of chemotherapy and an abundance of love and support from his wife, Crystal and the McInerney family, Stephen unfortunately lost his battle on October 9, 2015 at the young age of 33.
In 2013, Team McInerney began fundraising for the Caner Council’s Relay for Life and has since then raised over $50,000 for the cause.
While they continue to advocate for the Cancer Council’s fantastic event, the McInerney family were astonished to discover that brain cancer is the least funded type of cancer, despite having the highest mortality rate.
So far, they have already donated $2000 to the Cure Brain Cancer foundation and are hoping to raise $5000 from ‘A Day for Stephen’.
Merchandise such as headphone beanies and specially designed ‘A Day for Stephen’ wine packs will be available for purchase on the day.
All proceeds raised on the day are going to the Cure Brain Cancer foundation.
To purchase a ticket for the event or to make a donation, please contact Crystal McInerney by emailing crystal088@live.com or by phoning 0401 242 939.
