Paris Izzard-Forbes (Yr 5), Elise Kerr (Yr 5), Ava Simpson (Yr 6), Megan Tanner (Yr 5) and Brandon Cox (Yr 4) will compete at the regional competition which is being held at Cessnock Racecourse on Friday, June 2.
To qualify they had to come in the top 6 within their respective age groups.
Kerr secured first place the U10 girls event, Cox second in the U10 boys, and Simpson claimed third in the U12-13 girls race.
While Tanner came 5th in the U11 girls and Izzard-Forbes 6th in the U11 boys.
They are all keen to step it a notch at the regionals for a chance to compete at the NSW PSSA Championships in Sydney.
Despite cross-country running being a test of endurance and stamina, Simpson says she finds it calming.
“It’s peaceful when you a running long distances on your own,” she says.
