It has been said that education is the greatest right, the greatest gift and the most empowering acquisition.
Attending a NSW public school can set a child up to be just about anything they wish to be. From former president of the NRMA Wendy Machin, to Narelle Campbell who became a station leader in the Antarctic, these small town public school graduates are living proof a NSW education can give children amazing opportunities.
Rob Stokes, NSW Minister for Education shares his message about Education Week:
“Our local public schools are often the centre of our communities. They are places where students, teachers, parents, grandparents and the broader community help to nurture and support the next generation of young Australians.
“Every day the skilled and dedicated staff in our schools bring to bear the transformative power of education, helping to improve the lives of children across NSW.
“Using evidence-based approaches for continuous improvement, teachers are able to create the best educational experiences for our children.
“That is why the NSW Government is employing 1000 more teachers this year, prioritising teacher professional development and strengthening the focus on student wellbeing.
“The educational and emotional development of our children is integral to developing the aware, engaged citizens that Australia needs to grow and prosper.
“I encourage all members of the community to visit your local public school during Education Week and see how we are working together for the future of our state, our nation and our world.”
