Singleton Heights unit catches fire

Singleton firies, along with police and ambulance services, were called to attend a fire at a Singleton Heights unit at around 10pm last night.

The call was made after concerned neighbours heard fire alarms coming from the unit.

Initially it was thought that persons were trapped inside, however after a premise search it was concluded that the building was empty.

The unit had significant smoke and heat damage, though no one was injured.

It is understood that the fire started in the bedroom however investigations into the cause of the event are continuing.

This event showcases the importance of having working smoke alarms, and the Singleton Fire Station advises local residents to ensure their alarms are efficient.
