Some great cricket was played but unfortunately Singleton did not manage a win.
For the U16’s captain, Isaac Barry, lost the toss on a damp wicket and was sent into bat.
Openers, Beau Parnell (23) and Tom Druery (17), got off to a brilliant start putting on 36 runs in the first 9 overs before Druery was dismissed.
Andrew Knox was next in and added a solid (12). A steady partnership from Kye Dann (6) and Tristan Pitcher (13) kept the score ticking over.
However, the innings of the match came from master blaster, Alex (Panda) Holz, with a determined (30) not out to take the total score to all out for 127 after 39 overs.
With a tight score to defend the team hit the field with real determination. Opening bowlers Barry (3/41) off 9.4 and Parnell (2/27) off 7 bowled very well.
Spinner Druery (0/16) and Sam Harrison (0/22) hit the mark and had the opposition wondering.
Holz back into the action took (1/10) off 4, adding to his already brilliant game.
Unfortunately, Upper Hunter reached Singletons total in the 28th over with the loss of 6 wickets.
In the U14’s Singleton batted first and complied 91 runs in the 50 overs with openers Luke Dempster and Abbott Stacy seeing off the first 5 overs.
Next to the wicket was the hard hitting Alex Stafa who dominated, scoring majestic (41) runs before being dismissed to a good catch.
Joseph Druery (8), Jack Land (4) and Josephine Pearce (4) not out continued the flow of runs up until the end of the 50 overs.
Singleton bowlers and fielders took on the task of defending 91 runs with the utmost will to win. Dorian Thornberry (1/19) and Joseph Druery (1/19) were economical which allowed change bowlers, Stafa aka the destroyer (3/13) off 5 overs, Jack Land (0/10), Josephine Pearce (0/14), Hayden Moorcroft (0/12) and Abbott Stacy (0/1) to finish the innings.
It was a great team effort but Upper Hunter was the winning team for the day.
Singleton won the toss Under 12’s and elected to bowl.
With a team of new players Singleton showed how well our district gels as a team – Lachlan Foster (1/53), Keanu Botha (2/16), Thomas Pearce (1/24) and Rywin Nock (1/24) all bowled very well.
This bowling was well supported by some great fielding from Alex Lane, Hayden Harman and Seth Newton.
Batting was also impressive with Clancy Cameron (6), Cody (The Don) Burley (32) not out, Keanu Botha (6), Hugo Williams on debut (2) and Damien Stafa (21).
Rep coordinator, Jason Barry, says it was a great start to the new Under 12 representative team’s season and we look forward to many more competitive games.
“I would like to thank the coaches, managers and parents for their support,” he says.
“And, a special thanks to Belinda Stafa for all her hard work and the scorers and other helpers.”
“It was great to see so many parents and friends support and help out, many of whom had to have a little afternoon nap after a big morning (C Williams, D Foster, L Parnell, C Taylor, D Harrison, R Pearce, and as always Michael Holz).”
“Our next contest sees Singleton taking on Maitland at home on November 5.”
