Mr Boddenberg admitted he had a strong link to the town.
“I did my recruitment training in Singleton, along with all the other Queensland intakes,” he said.
“That was back in 1965.
“I spent three months here.
“And, amazingly, even though I’m based on the Central Coast these days, it’s the first time I’ve returned to the area.
“I think the concept [All Things Military Expo] is brilliant.
“When I heard it was taking place in Singleton, I thought it was a good opportunity to come back.
“The town has grown so much.”
Mr Boddenberg said the Vietnam Veterans Nambus, just one of the many fabulous displays showcased at the weekend, was very informative for the young and young-at-heart.
“Not only do we participate in exhibitions such as this, we visit at least three schools a week,” he told The Argus.
“The Nambus concentrates on our part in the Vietnam War – it doesn’t focus on the conflict itself.
“We explain to the kids, and interested people, what we did over there.
“Most of us were in our 20s at the time; we’re now in our 70s.
“But, we have photographs, documents, models and much more on show.”
The day-long expo highlighted services available to current and former serving members of the Australian Defence Force and their families.
