Aditya Ratheesh and Abbott Stacey opened the batting and laid down a solid foundation before losing Ratheesh in the fifthover.
Van Zyl came in at number three, and not long after was dropped, this proved to be very costly as he paired with Stacey started to build up a valuable partnership. However, Stacey was run out trying to up the run rate.Alex Stafa scored a quick fire five runs before being bowled. With only a couple of overs left the run rate crept up to six an over. Bailey Morriss came in and provided van Zyl with excellent support running between the wickets to make sure van Zyl stayed on strike.
In a tight finish, van Zyl needwas under pressure to hit one run for victory from the very last delivery. The Maitland fielders at this point moved in to stop a single but a chest high ball saw him getting a top edge and sending the ball over the keepers head. Resulting in a well-deserved win for the U12 Singleton team.
