The Roosters share top spot on the BDAFL Division 1 ladder with the Maitland Saints, who were also round 14 winners defeating Terrigal Avoca by 26 points.
After trailing by a point at half-time, the Roosters gave themselves what turned out to be a match-winning break with a three-goal third-quarter and holding the Blues scoreless.
Newcastle came home with the wind in the final term, but Singleton played better to the conditions and sealed the win a clever goal in the goal square by Travis Bates.
Bates’ fourth goal for the game after outpointed two Newcastle defenders and managed to get his boot on the ball before it crossed the line.
