The 24-hour solo world champion, who hails from Port Macquarie but now resides at Newcastle, is expected to be among the frontrunners in round four of the prestigious racing series.
More than 200 riders from throughout NSW and the ACT will compete on the 10km circuit, just outside of town, from 9am on Saturday.
The Rocky Trail Entertainment event is open to solo or team competitors for four or seven hours.
And, English is looking forward to testing himself on the Singleton track once more.
“I did the HMBA Club three-hour there two weeks ago as preparation,” he admitted.
“I’m only just starting to increase my training again following a break after the world titles.
“It [Singleton] is a course that rewards a skilful rider, so it won’t necessarily be the fittest guy that wins.
“I have only managed to race one other event in this series but will be hoping to make the rest.
“The track is fast and flowy, without any significant technical features.
“So, it will suit riders of all ability.
“The main challenge for the elite [riders] will be conserving energy by trying to carry momentum through the multiple dips and bermed corners.”
English said he was slowly familiarising himself in his new surroundings in the Hunter.
“Newcastle has definitely been a change in scenery for me, I’m still trying to get into a consistent [training] routine,” he explained.
“I’m now working on increasing my training before the 24-hour national championships – and seven-hour races will definitely do that.
“My next significant race after the seven-hour this weekend is the six-hour at Taree.”
A rider briefing is scheduled at 8.45am, with a mass start – of the four and seven-hour competitions – at 9am.
Organisers predict the four-hour section will finish about 1pm, with the prize ceremony taking place at 2pm.
The seven-hour division will wrap up at approximately 4pm, to be followed by presentations.
The track is just outside Singleton on the corner Maison Dieu Road and Dights Crossing Road.
