They arrived at the scene – near McDonald’s - to find the driver of the car trapped and complaining of neck and chest pain.
Ambulance rescue had to remove the front and rear driver’s side doors - along with the b-pillar - to free the woman.
She was transported to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
The highway was blocked for short time in both directions and a traffic diversion was put in place.
