Danny Worth from Singleton, the bullrider who was injured earlier this month at the Wingham Show’s Bullride competition, is counting his blessings.

He had a bad fall, causing his helmet to be ripped off his head by a bull's horn. Due to suspected fractured skull and spinal injuries, he was taken by ambulance to Manning Base Hospital, who then arranged for him to be airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle. Doctors told Danny, there was only one millimetre difference from this being a nearly fatal, serious head injury. When he returned to Wingham to collect his car and gear he took a walk through the Rodeo Arena and relived the moment that became nationwide news. There was also a nice surprise for Danny on his return. Wingham Show Society and Double C Saddlery from Wingham, joined forces and Shere Temple presented Danny with a $200 Double C Saddlery Gift Voucher towards a new helmet. The Wingham Show Society also printed out all the well wishes that had been received for Danny, from the Wingham Rodeo and Wingham Show social media pages. Over 2100 people reacted to the posts, and Danny was overwhelmed by the thoughts and care that people had extended to him.
Danny told us that these messages had really helped him during his recovery this week. Thank you to everyone who sent messages through and kept in touch with Danny.
He tells us that he will be back on the rodeo circuit as soon as possible.
