However this month the real estate agent found himself on the bidding end of an online auction on a quest to secure a piece of Singleton history.
This week he will loan his recently purchased Singleton Show Poultry trophy from 1873.
"It's been gone for too long," he said as he proudly held the historic item.
"I kept an eye on this item after my brother, who is a historian, notified me it was in Sydney on an online auction.
"I think those sorts of things are better off here and it was unusual because they didn't tell me where it had been prior but that's the story."
After a clean from the local jeweler the item will be showcased at this week's Singleton Show.
