Saturday's Monthly Medal, the first competition game for 2021, brought together a good filed of 60 players on a drizzly day with soft conditions making each hole play rather long. This didn't deter many players from recording some excellent scores with Dean Fowler having a wonderful day in winning the overall Monthly Medal with his excellent 63 nett score.
All grade winners broke their handicap giving those of us no excuses for not playing better. Robert Biles hit the ground running in winning the A Grade event with his 67 nett, just ahead of two-time Club Champion, Cameron Johanson's 68 nett with 2019 B Grade Club Champion Ben Bridge third with his 68 nett, which included a NTPin on the last. Cameron's round was one to behold as he had a two under par round which included 6 birdies. His group had a great day with two of his playing partners having mid 70 rounds. T
ony Seamer turned back the clock to win B Grade with a terrific 64 nett score, a 79 off the stick-a score usually easily good enough to win the overall monthly medal. Trent McGee finished runner up with his 67 with Luke Simmons third with a 69.
Hugh Dilley was the only C Grader to break his handicap, easily winning with his 68 nett with Alexander Wisemantel runner up with a nett 72, and Richard Turnbull, fresh from a very successful par 3 championship (also winning Thursday's Vets Par 3) third with a 75. A 73 nett was needed to win a ball.
