An excited Maddie Gilmore is set to take the field with the Hunter Team at the U12's Touch State Championships later this year. The twelve-year-old's talent was noticed earlier this year when she played with the Upper Hunter Team at the Regional Competition.
"The regional competition was a lot of fun, but very tough compared to local and rep competition," said Maddie. "
We played short games in a round robin type of situation before we were selected to go into possible and probable's which is the round that players could be selected to progress to the next level," she continued.
Maddie admits she is quite competitive and has her eyes set on a spot in the U12's NSW Touch Team.
"All of my friends and teammates know I am competitive, I consider myself to be a bit of leader in the team with telling the girls what to do and encouraging them when it's a tough game."
Maddie will now travel to Tuggerah with the Hunter Team to compete at the NSW PSSA Touch Football Girls Championships held from August 31 - September 2 where she aims to be recognised to compete with the NSW team.
