A further five cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed in Hunter New England Local Health District in the 24 hours to 8.00pm last night.

This includes a resident of the RFBI Hawkins Masonic Retirement Village in Edgeworth. Sadly, the man in his 90s died last night, after testing positive to COVID-19 yesterday. Our sincere condolences go out to this man's family, friends and fellow residents at the retirement village.
This brings the total number of cases in the District to 82 since August 5.
Of the five new cases:
- One is associated with the RFBI Hawkins Masonic Retirement Village in Edgeworth.
- The remaining four are family or household contacts, and linked to previously reported cases.
- The one case from Lake Macquarie LGA is related to the aged care facility, one is in the Newcastle LGA, one is in the Maitland LGA, one is in the Port Stephens LGA, and one is in Armidale (part of the known family cluster).
- Only one was infectious while in the community. The remaining cases were in isolation throughout their infectious period, or residents of the aged care facility.
