With semi finals just around the corner the older age groups are in full preparation and fighting for spots in the semis.
Under 6s: Hamilton Insurance and Investment Services Under 6 Whites took on a very well drilled Scone team. All the boys again showed they are improving and obviously benefiting from the hard work put in at training. Defensively the boys are improving each week and should be very proud of their efforts.
Under 7s: Forsythes Under 7 reds went up against the powerful Scone blues with Mason Taylor and Charlie Knight both tackling continually throughout the game. Roman Martin made some ground every time he got the ball showing his team what it takes to be captain. Nate Hodge couldn't be stopped and gained two tries for his team with Eden Hampstead showing everyone how to kick goals. Riley Fitzsimmons also got across the try line. Once again Miss Shelby Lambkin had an outstanding game. Great game team.
Under 8s: NATRAD Under 8 Black’s took on Muswellbrook Blue at Denman. The boys played a good structured game, organised and played as a true team. Outstanding efforts by Tyler Ward with ball running and defence, strong defensive efforts by Riley Maytom and Blake Heenan McLoead, with strong ball running by Lachlan Molloy, Rylan Cameron and Jayden Varney.
Under 8s: Ativo Under 8 Red’s – played Scone Red at Denman. These boys pulled together and put up a challenge to the Scone team which end in a game of try for try. Notice of performances have to go to Noah Noke, Cooper Meldrum and Octavian Singstock for their attacking raids and Rhylee Vanoostwaard, Jayden Sledge and Bailey Symmons for their efforts in defence.
Under 8s: NATRAD Under 8 White’s played Denman White at Denman and put up a competitive game with many tries and good online tackling displays. Stand out performers for this game were Rory Barry for great team spirit, Riley Oben and Jaithan Squires with their ball running skill and Naite Howlett, Dylan Payne and Julian Stewart with big tackles saving a bundle of tries.
Under 9s: The Singleton Heights Bakery Under 9 Reds played a gutsy match with no reserves against a strong Scone outfit. Ryan Young scored his first try for Singo then made it a double and followed up with some great defence. Baylie Morris gave his usual 100 per cent and played on through the pain of a sore hand. Ethan Holland led the team around the park again, Floyd Forrester and Gabriel Stafa continue to impress the coach the way they listen and learn and Harry Campbell took home the trophy for "player of the week". Special thanks to Deacen Hampstead from the Whites for helping out his mates and for the second week in a row, Riley Maytom from the under 8s was courageous for the team. Top stuff fellas.
The Comprint Under 9 Whites took on Muswellbrook and finished well on top with another outstanding effort led by Captain Tully Wholert. Once again, thanks to the four under 8 boys who backed up to help out, great tries, tackling and charging runs from Tyler Ward, Chad Pike, Jayden Sledge and Cooper (five tries) Meldrum. Continued improver and good listener Blaiden Ritter tried all day and bagged his first try for The Greyhounds. Tyson Ayshford proved difficult to catch with the ball and pulled off some cracking tackles. Rhylee Jackson had a blinder, putting on some huge hits and grabbing two tries along the way, improved tackling technique made him my choice for the "Player of the Week" trophy.
Under 10s: Oldknow Earthmoving and Haulage Under 10 White took on Scone Blue at Denman. The boys played a solid first half and really held their own in the first half of the game. Unfortunately lack of game time over the last few weeks took its toll and the boys just ran out of puff against the well drilled Scone side. A try late in the game to Marshall Taylor and converted by Darby Matthews seen the boy go down 38-6.
Under 11s: Emm Dee Engineering Under 11 White took on Muswellbrook in a good game by all, the boys n Soph came up with a win 16 to 6. A special mention to Chris Fry, Cody Biffin and Wyatt Gravenall (on his birthday, who got a try also), all the boys had an outstanding game in all areas. Temaunga Nikora for scoring a great try and then Brock Ayshford scoring the match winner in the corner. Well done to all the team, keep up the good work.
Under 12s: Automotive Services Under 12 Div 2 had a home advantage this week against Cessnock. Singleton started the game off strong with a full length of the field try to Jack O’Neill, converted by Josh Moore. Cessnock came back with an unconverted try. After the break we came back with an exciting high ball by Jayden Hamson which led to a try for Connor Godley, converted by Daniel Cartledge. Cessnock scored another unconverted try. Singleton were eager for more tries with Josh Moore scoring and converted by Connor Godley. Returning from injuries Nick Holland and Daniel Cartledge both had strong games. Standout of the day was Jayden Hamson. Last week I said I could smell a win. Lets hope this continues, congratulations to all the boys on a win, 18 – 8.
Under 13s: Valley Hydraulic Services U13s Division 1 side travelled to Cessnock finally having a number of reserves thanks to the division five boys and interchange that proved a saviour. Half time saw the boys in front thanks to tries to Dylan Old and Elliot Earnshaw. Great running from Tom Caita-Mandra and Jake Domek resulted in great yards, whilst the defence of Isaac Martin, Cadman Wozyni, Harrison Geale and Michael Robertson kept us in the hunt. After oranges, Blake Trees scored early but then it was all Cessnock through their strong running and repeat sets and they edged back into the game. Work horse Heath Thomas was injured and capably replaced by Joey Ragh. Brendan Chalker proved a big handful on every run however the turning point of the game was Cayden Oldham’s slips catch off a smart grubber kick by Cessnock that he dually hit back up the middle. Tytan Lord was valuable as a back line interchange. Thankfully that turn of events saw us finish strongly with several lengths of the field sets. Finally Cooper Stair crashed over and was converted by Cooper Toshack to clinch victory 18-14 Singleton. Thank you to all boys that played and Jack Turner turning up to support. Good luck for the next couple for weeks boys.
