“This is the worst damage I’ve seen done to the park,” he said.
A vehicle has been driven over all the designated football playing surfaces starting from the car park all the way up to the opposite end.
“It’s disappointing for the kids and athletes to see their park ripped up like this,” Mr Henderson said.
Because of the damage, members of the club will have to walk the length of the oval to make sure the surface is safe for scheduled games on Saturday.
“It’s volunteers’ time and effort being spent on this,” he told The Argus.
The car joyride damage comes off the back of an attempted break-in into the Alroy Oval canteen on Sunday night.
Mr Henderson said it wasn’t the first time the club has had issues with people invading the pitch with vehicles.
“We’ve had problems with motorbikes; at one training session a motorbike nearly hit some of the under-18 players,” he said.
“If anyone has information about the incident we’d like them to contact the police.”
