The first division outfit claimed the Black Diamond AFL plaudits 34.9.213 to 0.1.1.
It was the Bates’ show as he kicked 17 majors for the day, bringing up his century of goals for the season.
This is a fantastic achievement for the 38-year-old sharp shooter.
With the game over as a contest at half-time with the Roosters leading by 94 points, all eyes were on Bates to see if he could get to the magical 100-goal mark, still requiring 10.
With little pressure being applied through the midfield, he kicked five majors in the third quarter.
But, Bates still needed a further five in the last quarter.
He achieved the magical mark with four minutes to go in the game, much to the delight of his team mates and the home crowd.
“I think I had the easiest job on the park today,": Bates told The Argus.
“If it wasn’t for my team mates, I wouldn’t have achieved it.
“So, I need to thank all of them.”
Bates’ 17-goal haul also equaled the club record, an honour he now shares with Sam Brasington.
The match was little more than a training run for the Roosters who maintain top spot on the ladder heading into the final weeks of the season.
Their next mission is two away games against Terrigal Avoca and Warners Bay.
Apart from Bates, Andrew Scott, Nic Roberts and Jai Pursell also had good games.
Second division had an early start at No 1 Sportsground in Newcastle and proved no match for Newcastle City, going down 23.10.148 to 2.5.17.
Singleton’s women were overpowered by Gosford 34.19.223 to 0.0.0.
