However, completing at least one HSC subject before entering their final year of study has paid off for six Singleton High School (SHS) Year 11 students.
Hardworking students, Emma Cheetham, Nathan Moore, Phoebe Marcheff, Dana Holz, Ashleigh McCollough and Ella Palmer, have achieved the highest mark possible in their accelerated subjects.
And, to her credit Emma managed a Band Six in both Biology and Hospitality.
While, Information and Digital Technology (IDT) student Nathan Moore made the annual ‘Top Achievers’ List.
This means he not only gained a Band Six ranking but made the Top 10 in the state – he came fourth.
On top of this Dana, Phoebe and Ashleigh all attained a Band Six in Biology, and Ella for Primary Industries.
They all agree it will help decrease their workload in 2017, and it has given them an insight into what they need to do next year to achieve at this level in their other subjects.
Dana says their Biology teacher, Miss Pratten cried when she heard the news.
