The 30-year-old utility has been named in the Hedweld Singleton Bulls Sevens tournament side which will play the Hawks, Nelson Bay and Kempsey this Saturday at St Johns Oval, Charlestown.
“I’m very excited for the club, it’s the first time we’ve pulled together a team for this tournament since I joined the Bulls so this weekend will be special,” he explained.
“A lot of the boys have put in a lot of work over the off season so it should be good.”
“Hopefully the training we’ve been putting together over the weekend comes together this weekend and the results come our way.”
Head coach Steve Merrick will use the tournament to assess his players’ fitness ahead of the regular season.
“Steve has been good with us and his presence at the club has been inspiring to the boys,” Mason added.
“You look around the training track and there’s 30-40 players on the track in early February.”
“This time two years ago you’d have had 10 (maybe 12 at best).”
