But, it's monitoring the situation closely.
Muswellbrook Shire Council issued a directive to a number of organisations on Thursday, August 6, strongly urging there be no organised events conducted in the area this weekend, which involves teams or people travelling from Newcastle or Maitland, due to the impact of COVID-19.
It is hoped the move will reduce the opportunity for the spread of coronavirus, from the bigger centres, to the Upper Hunter.
However, Singleton Council is adopting a "wait and see" approach.
"Community sport and travel within NSW are currently permitted in accordance with the NSW Government's Public Health Orders," manager infrastructure services Damian Morris said.
"Sporting clubs are required to minimise spectator attendance at community sport and ensure measures are in place to exclude participants returning from Victoria in the past 14 days or who have attended any of the reported case locations listed on the NSW Health website.
"Singleton Council understands the important contribution that community sport makes to the physical, psychological and emotional wellbeing of individuals and the creation of stronger, cohesive communities.
"We will continue to work with local sporting clubs to ensure the continuance of local sport while ever it is deemed safe by NSW Health to do so."
The Singleton Roosters are scheduled to meet AFL Hunter Central Coast opponents Cardiff (men) and Lake Macquarie (women) at Rose Point Park on Saturday, August 8.
New Lambton FC, meanwhile, has withdrawn its teams from this weekend's Northern League One matches, due to be played against the Singleton Strikers.
