Last weekend was very busy for Singleton cricket with an Umpiring Course and second and third grade T20 Finals on Sunday and Grade games on Saturday. First Grade was again washed out.
Nine participants took part in the Umpires Course on Sunday that had been organised by Singleton District Cricket Association. The course was conducted by Steve Eccles , Training Officer of Upper Hunter Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association.
Those in attendance are now qualified to be appointed to Local Grade games and Local Junior Cricket games. Thank you to the Clubs who supported this event. It was great to see so many receive great results.
Sunday also was the scheduled day for the Second and Third Grade T20 Finals and the weather proved to be kind so both games were completed on the Cook Park 5 wicket.
In the second grade final Denman 8/142 defeated PCH 9/138 with Steven Andrews top scoring with 32, Jack Mann scored 30 and Peter Mills scored 18 and was also their best bowler with 3/21.
For PCH the top scorer was Jay Jensen with 30 runs followed by Chris Ryan 27 and Matthew Pearce 27. With the ball the best was Josh Shade with 2/9 and Jack Shade 2/29.
In a high scoring result for the winners In the third grade final Valley 2/237 defeated JPC 5/165.
Michael Hamson 152 not out dominated for Valley with the bat and took 2/27 with the ball. Support came from Ian Hipwell scoring 51 and Liam Storey 1/33.
For JPC Andrew Knox scored 57 and Bruce Dempster 39. Their bowers Sianne Carmen 1/15 and Dempster with 1/31.
With the exception of the game at Denman, Saturday's grade games were transferred to synthetic wickets.
In second grade Denman 6/187 defeated Glendon all out for 175. For Denman Peter Mills top the batting with 48, Jackson Ball scored 45 and took 2/28. Jack Mann remained 21no. Alex Loredo snared 2/26.
Jack Turner top scored for Glendon with 58, Scott Daniel 46 and Cooper Bailey 25no. Isaac Martin 1/9 and Austin Maher 1/29 were the best of their bowlers.
Valley all out for 107 were defeated by PCH 5/111. For PCH Travis Batch 60no and Jack Shade 20 were best with the bat. Brandan Carman 3/16, Matthew Pearce 2/24 and Josh Shade 2/16 were the destroyers with the ball.
Jason Barry 15 and Wayne Chandler 12 top scored for Valley and Tate Edwards 1/8, Matt Maher 1/11 and Brad Maher 1/24 were best with the ball.
In third grade JPC 6/111 defeated Creeks 105. For JPC Robie Hedges 37no, Michael Phillips 20 and Andrew Almond 11no. Hedges also took 2/28 and Siaane Carman 2/15.
Clint Harmon 66no top scored for Creeks with Shane Cox 11 and Dave Bird chipping in with 10 runs. Michael Chick 2/15 and Kamrann Harman 1/15.
