It's understood the president was calling on Chileans to vote in support of a new constitution. On Sunday, the country voted to reject the proposed constitution by an overwhelming majority.
The rejection was a blow to the 36-year-old president, who won office in March 2022 after promising economic and social reforms. His office has been so far plagued by soaring inflation levels and increasing economic uncertainty.
The final tally showed 7.9 million Chileans were against the draft constitution, while 4.9 million were in favour. Rallies took place on Monday as Chileans welcomed the result.
A re-draft of the constitution will now be written and proposed to the Chilean cabinet.
