Singleton White U6' s sponsored by Hamilton Insurance & Investment Services travelled to Scone Park on Saturday to take on the Singleton Red's. The boys were very excited to play their second game for the season. They got straight into it with Kayden Atkins scoring the first try within a few minutes of game time. Unfortunately it was in the wrong direction but was impressive none the less. Kayden continued to have good runs and great tackles for the entire game. Nicholas Hall almost scored a Try with a great run, whilst Charlie Blackwell tackled his little heart out. Harry Lomax is one of the youngest members of our team but is always in the bunch giving it his best shot. Jake Richards and Bowen Duncan had a great time on the field. Darcy Burgess had a few great runs and was lucky enough to score a try. Man of the match went to Kaden Price who made his debut run on the field. Great to have him join the team. Congratulations to all the boys it was a great game of football.
U/7 reds played well against scone with all the kids making some improvements in their game. A big effort from Jett Rowland this week saw him have some big runs and make plenty of tackles.
The Under 8s met head to head this week at Scone with the Reds taking on the Whites. It was a hotly contested game with all players fighting hard for their teams. Koby Fernance was a standout for the Reds side earning his teams man of the match. His strength in tackling holding out the whites a number of times and one of his many hard runs seeing him cross the line in the final stages, he was deserving of the title. Tries for the reds also went to Axel Crossley and Hamish Adamthwaite, a newcomer this season who is proving a valuable player in all areas. The whites took their share of the ball seeing fast footed Lachlan Jackson cross the line early in the game and some lightning runs from Hemi Edwards the game was always going to be great to watch. Kobie Flanders quick steps and fast runs made him hard to tackle and earned him the Whites man of the match. It was great to see the boy’s face off against each other with both sides performing strongly with great sportsmanship throughout the game. Well done boys.
Under 9 blacks made a great effort this week against scone with our new players fast becoming good young footballers. Our captain this week was Jimmy Britton, who led the way with some strong defence. Riley Ingram and Ricky Lancaster showed some good skills and tries went to Hayden Davison and a double to Luke McCarthy. Well done boys on a great effort.
Saturday’s game saw mate against mate when our Under 10 Singleton Reds took on Under 10 Singleton Whites. The Reds attack and defence was a real team display against a strong opposition. Oscar Blackwell's steamrolling runs through the oppositions defence saw him receive the Coaches Award and Isaac Adamthwaite backed up last week’s coach’s award performance. In a tightly contested match the Reds were eventual winners, with a final score of 18-6. Try scorers Tyler Ward, Oscar Blackwell and Cooper Meldrum. Goals to Tom Kirkpatrick, Chad Pike and Rhylee Vanoostwaard.
Endless Engraving under 11 Whites just missed the cash, in a hard fought 12-6 loss to Denman on Saturday. Having no time taken off for injuries to the opposition cost the boys, as the clock wound right down to the siren, with our boys waiting to play the ball on the line. A super effort with so many new kids and extremely pleasing to see them tackle so well. Special mention to Ryan Eastlake, Wilson Brock & Byron Palmer. Coach Gary Ayshford is very proud of the team’s performance so far.
Singleton under 12's Division 1 team travelled to Kurri to play Kurri at home. The home team put first points on the board but from there on in it was all Singletons game winning 30-6. With tries going to Eli Foote, Jack Trees, Corben Hampstead and Tom Donahue bagging a double, all tries were converted. A big well done to all the boys on a great game, your hard work is paying off.
The 14/4s played Dungog on Saturday at Cook Park. As a coach and parent I'm very pleased with the effort, courage and the heart the boys gave to the game and they didn't give up even though the team they played was in division 2 the year previously. Unfortunately the game ended just before half time due to an injury. I'd like to thank the league safe team, the FAOs Simone and Smailsey and the ambulance officers that helped. Every player has been awarded with man of the match for their effort. Coach Corey Bowles would also like to thank the three players who played up and helped the 14/1s division and those who played for the 15/4s. Hold your heads high boys and keep up the good effort.
Under 15’s took on West Maitland in division 1, putting on a try scoring show in round 2 running out convincing 62-10 winners. The team is really starting to gel together and showing great promise for the rest of the season. Try scorers were Tom Caita Mantra (2), Maui Carroll (2), Kobe Davies (2), Blake trees, Blake Odell , Brendon Chalker, Josh Johnson and Aidan Partridge Smith each scoring one with Brendan Chalker kicking 8 goals and George Reid a single conversion. Kobe Davies, Brendon Chalker and Blake trees were all standouts and are showing plenty of confidence after spending the summer with the Knights under 15s squad! Tom Caita Mantra led from the front whilst Blake Odell and Bowen Burley are looking a lot more comfortable in the top division after a couple hit outs! Man of the match went to Maui Carroll!
Next weekend sees the teams get a hard earned rest ready for Round 3 to kick off on 23rd April. Well done to all our teams this week, it’s been a great start to the season and we can’t wait to see what else it brings.
