Angus bulls topped at $38,000 to average $11,318 at the ninth annual Knowla Angus on-property bull sale, Moppy near Gloucester.

Vendors James and Ted Laurie, Knowla Livestock, were extremely pleased with the result with a near total clearance of 69 bulls sold from 70 offered.
At last year’s sale 49 Angus bulls sold to $21,000 to average $9,939.
To priced bull was Knowla Lofty L127, for 24 month old sired by Dunoon Highpoint H744, weighing 836kg, with a scrotal circumference of 41cm who fetched $38,000.
He was purchased by Vincent family, Booragul Angus stud and Mark and Lee Latham, “Bellview”, both from Piallaway near Gunnedah. Knowla Lofty is at the top end of the breed averages for growth, carcass weight and marbling.
Mr Vincent said he had seen Lofty L127 during the Knowla Livestock open day. He described the 24-month-old as a “natural doing, soft bull” who had a scrotal circumference of 41cm and estimated breeding values (EBVs) of 2.4pc for intramuscular fat and +47, +88 and +115 for 200-, 400-, and 600-day growth.
The McKenzie family, Maccas Angus purchased a draft of twelve bulls for their Gloucester district properties. In all local breeders purchased more than half of the catalogue. Gresford and Upper Hunter clients also secured a number of lots.
Second top priced bull at $28,000, Knowla McCaw M20 sold to the Five Star & Dulverton Angus studs Glenn Innes. At 17 months of age McCaw M20 weighed 698kg with a scrotal circumference of 40cm.
McCaw had EBVs of +1.7 and +1.9 for rib and rump fat, +2.1 for intramuscular fat and +44, +82 and +105 for 200-, 400- and 600-day weight.
John Patrick of Huntington Angus, Port Macquarie paid $23,000 for his choice of Knowla Major M40.
Long time supporter Joe Berry, “Buri West” Walcha paid $18,000 for Knowla Lofty L175 and $16,000 for Knowla McCaw M14
The draft of un-joined Angus yearling heifers offered on the day saw all 100 sell to average $1,453
