Since achieving success at the Cardiff Cup in February this year Xavier has moved up an age group into Under 8s and he has been working hard with coach Hilary Kennedy once a week at Singleton Striders.
Xavier took out the Year 1 boys 100m final at Singleton Heights Public School sports carnival in September.
He has competed in two carnivals for Little Athletics as a member of Singleton Track and Field Club were he has had some amazing results.
On October 28 he attended the Wallsend Athletics Gala Day where he brought home five 1st places and 4 pbs winning the event.
He won:
1st Trophy feature event Shot put 5.10m
1st Long jump 3.06m
1st Discus 12.85m
1st 70m 11.82 sec
1st 100m 16.57sec
This following Sunday November 4 he attended the Edgeworth Challenge.
It was a multi point score event requiring him to compete in all five events with the winner requiring the highest points for the day .He had some extremely tough competition out of the region said his mother Jacki Hicks.
Xavier came away with the under 8 boys age champion overall highest point scorer. His success at the Challenge included:
1st place 100m 16.35 sec PB
1st play long jump 3.07m
1st place discus 13.20 PB
2nd place shotput 5.10m
2nd place 700m pack start 2mins40sec
Xavier has more carnivals this year and looks forward to his first Zone athletics this year where hopes to progress through to regionals, said Jacki.
