The historic decision comes as a cruel blow for Singleton's Anytime Fitness community just six days after the business reopened after a two week renovation.
However the fitness centre's owner Trent Ellison remained optimistic throughout this morning.
"To only open up and have this happen is disappointing but it is what it is; we're going to have to reopen as soon as we can," Mr Ellison told the Singleton Argus.
Singleton's Anytime Fitness members have been treated to new equipment, improved air conditioning and wider spaces since the centre reopened its doors at 2pm last Tuesday.
The renovation also marked the second of its kind for the business since it opened its doors to the Singleton community in 2009.
"Everyone was stoked about what was happening around the centre," he continued.
"Now today it has been busy since 4am because everyone has tried to get their final workout in.
"We're now taking it one step at a time because there's so much information coming through quite regularly.
"As soon as we can reopen we will open our doors; we don't know how long that may be but we'll do it as soon as we can."
Singleton's Anytime Fitness manager Kathy Edwards echoed her optimism for her members across the region.
"We just want all of our members to keep isolated and remember to keep using our workout app and doing what they can," she added.
"We also want to assure everyone that during the last six days of business we stepped up the hygiene standards three or four times a day with our professional cleaning and sanitizer."
